I am an Independent Media Consultant & Chief Creative Officer for the UK’s first National Centre for Immersive Storytelling working with partners that include; Sony Interactive Entertainment, Pinewood Studios, Sky & The National Film & Television School. We aim to pioneer immersive experiences across the UK’s Creative Industries with cutting edge research, training and investment into productions. I am University of London, Royal Holloway’s industry lead for their recently awarded £10 million StoryFutures Creative Cluster project, working with consortia partners including; BBC Studios, Endemol Shine & PACT to explore the future of the UK screen industries.
In 2018 I consulted with DCMS following the publication of The Cultural White Paper and a government review aimed at making the UK a world leader in Digital Culture. I led a workstream, public consultation exercise & co-authored the “Culture Is Digital” report which was launched by then Secretary of State Matt Hancock M.P.
I was one of the chief architects of the BBC’s digital transformation, driving development and business across BBC Studios, one of the UK’s leading media producers with an annual slate worth £350 million. I embedded specialist digital capability teams within TV Production, launching and editorially led the BBC’s innovation platform Taster, and Exec Produced a series of projects for BBC Three, the first TV channel in the world to move online. As a television & radio producer I have made award winning programmes with Graham Norton, Flight of The Conchords, Mark Radcliffe, & Tim Minchin.
I remain passionate about the ways in which we can use digital technologies to tell better stories and I have created a coalition of the willing working alongside companies and organisations including; BBC World Service, Coventry City of Culture, The Canada Media Fund & UKRI . I am a regular speaker at Broadcast & Digital Industry events, including MIP, IBC & SxsWi & judge a number of the UK’s leading media awards. Being one of BIMA’s “Hot 100″ in Digital Media for 2017 was cause for both immense gratitude and curious fascination.
