I started working with DCMS in January 2017 to lead a workstream for the #cultureisdigital project, initially under Culture Minister Matt Hancock MP and latterly John Glen MP. This was a review of the UK Cultural Sector and it’s digital capability resulting in a narrative and policy recommendations that would unleash the creative potential of technology and boost the capability of cultural organisations.

The dialogue was launched on social media with the #cultureisdigital, the consultation was also conducted online  & I produced a showreel to share examples of best practice across the sector.

As the project progressed we engaged the Minister around the value of immersive technologies to the cultural sector. I took him to Digital Catapult where he experienced a variety of mobile and tethered VR projects. He later blogged about this when helping to launch the Creative XR programme, a £1million committment to immersive prototypes across the UK cultural sector

The #CultureIsDigital report will land later this year with a number of recommendations around how we can make the UK a world leader in Digital Culture. The consultation exercise was widespread with stakeholders including; Arts Council England, The Heritage Lottery Fund, The British Library, The National Theatre & The National Trust.
